Our Story

Founded in 2010 by John Conover, Gordon Getty, and Gavin Newsom, Adaptation grew from a desire to expand the relaxed, welcoming spirit of Odette Estate through approachable, flavor-forward wines.

Winemaker Andrew Haugen brings that vision to life, sourcing unique varieties from across Napa Valley to create bold, distinctive Cabernet Sauvignons and Petite Sirahs that capture the Valley’s rugged energy while delivering exceptional quality and value.

In 2022, Adaptation found its home in Pope Valley at the untamed Oso Vineyard, a 95-acre site alive with bears, raptors, and wild beauty. Here, diverse soils, elevations, and climates yield vibrant, concentrated wines with rich aromatics and silken textures.

From our breezy tasting room and patio to tables across the country, Adaptation celebrates wine without pretense—bottles that shine at backyard barbecues, dinners out, or quiet nights at home. True to its name, Adaptation is flexible, adventurous, and inherently Napa: wines made to fit seamlessly into life’s many moments.
